Things you can try is to keep a laptop on a flat surface to increase airflow and make sure all vents are clean to allow good air flow also, unplugging the charger as soon as the battery is full, turn off apps, files, etc. that are not being used or transfer to another device or delete them to free up space and you could purchase a after market cooling pad.
