Android tablet not turning on. How to check where the problem is?

Hi!

I've got an Android tablet (discontinued Archos FamilyPad 2: https://www.europeanconsumerschoice.org/...).

I've let it fall some time ago and now it can't turn on anymore.

the symptoms:

- Pressing Power On button: nothing happens, screens stays black.

- Pressing reset, Power On for 10 sec, pressing Vol+ and Power On (as I've seen it can power on sometimes): nothing happens.

- charging the tablet: there's a red light showing that it charges. I've tried to leave it for 2 days: it still can't turn on.

- Plugging the usb to the PC (windows or Linux): the tablet is not detected.

I've opened it, but now I don't know what to do next... I've got a multimeter if it can help...

What should I check first? How can I check the battery, the connections maybe (it happens after a fall)?

Any help welcome!

EDIT: I've tried to check the battery, but I don't know whether I've used the good method. The voltage seems to be at +4V

Hi,

1.Try disconnecting the battery from the systemboard for say 5 minutes, then reconnecting it and then trying to start it.

2. Disconnect battery from systemboard then use the Ohmmeter to test the continuity of the power button to see if pressing it connects a circuit to the systemboard. Can't see it but it will either connect an earth to the board when the switch closes or place a s/c across the connecting terminals on the board. This is to prove that the button contacts are working or that its function reaches the systemboard. You will need to trace the cabling/wiring from the button connections to the systemboard connections to make the tests. (You could do this while waiting for the 5 minutes to elapse. Saves disconnecting the battery twice.

Just some thoughts.

thanks! the battery is soldered to the MB so I guess I should try to unsolder it? For the the little board with the circuit, which connects the power on button to the main board, I don't have the tools yet to disassemble it: I must buy the right little screwdriver. And I've apparently blown the fuse of my multimeter by checking the continuity on the battery... How stupid of me. Well, I need to make a few purchases for all these then and I come back on this project...

Any results...I have same problems
