I need help with my laptop Samsung RF411. It turns on, ligthts come up, but the screen is dark. I've tried to plug an external monitor but without any effects, still nothing on the screen. Any ideas?

If no image appears on the external monitor you're likely left with a video card issue. Your laptop has integrated video so it is not a replaceable card, you'd be looking at replacing the board. Considering that there are no images at any time it is likely that your data is still intact and can be recovered by removing the hard drive and placing it in an enclosure or a dock and connecting to another computer.

I am here because I have the (same) experience with a RF511, although the question is not detailed. A friend has given the laptop to me, after being left in a cupboard for years. After switching on, there is no disk activity, and the screen doesn't even flicker. I suspect the CMOS battery is dead, but was hoping to see if anybody else had the 'exact' same problem (with a resolution)

if you got another computer go to major geeks download a all windows boot disk put in your laptop turn it on. it should do repair works for all computers …. did you try removing the battery, count to 10 with your finger on the power button. plug it in and power it on if not put the battery back in and try the same solution hope these both help you all
