Damage external & internal but not sure if the phone is done for

Hello my name is Jay, I've had this iPhone 5s for about 3 years now of all things I failed to back up the phone frequently. Recently I had an accident where the phone was caught into the door of my vehicle but wasn't completely closed up. It still charges with no problem but the screen is completely shattered. Also there is a slight bend and as of now I'm not sure of the internal damage. So one of my questions are can the internal memory be recovered if that was the case?

Also, when charging the iPhone it doesn't show up as a plugin device or USB connected . Yet, it does make the alert sound on my computer and also the vibration signal to notify that its charging. I went to a near by shop and was told everything looks good but they are not sure if the main internal memory disc or card is damage due to the slight bend on the phone . What would you suggest I do about this situation? I would like to have the screen replaced but I want to know if the phone will even be functional again. I do get alarm alerts but can't access anything even if the iPhone was to connect to a computer cause its password locked and screen is useless.

I'll gladly appreciate your help...

Sadly, I think this phone is a lost cause ;-{

At this point I think your only hope here is to backup your iPhone onto a Mac or PC using iTunes via a Lightning cable. If you can get it to connect, you might be able to save your data. Once done try to get the SIM out so you can plug it into your new iPhone. Then recover your stuff back onto the new phone.

A friend of mine cast his old phone in a block of Lucite as a paper weight!

Jay, I'm really sorry about your iPhone but with a bend in the iPhone you would have to do a lot more than replace the screen. You will have to replace the back of the iPhone and the MotherBoard and a bunch of other little thing because they are probably bent to. I'm supprised your Phone still works because were the bend is is almost were the sin tray is, the MotherBoard and other things. I know no everybody has cash to play with but I would get a new iPhone. Sorry if you didn't find what you were looking for.

Hello Jay, I'm here to offer you a little hope. First let me say that you have an iPhone 5, not a 5s. The 5s has the touch ID and yours does not. The question is then "Is the phone worth repairing?". If you are getting alerts the majority of the phone is still working.

Here is what I know you will need to repair the phone;

Complete display assembly with small parts.

Frame with small parts (including dock port.

Battery.

Again, is it worth it?

Here is what you will need to attempt to retrieve the data from your phone if you have no backup;

Display assembly.

Battery.

Dock port.

Carefully remove the logic board, connect the dock port, screen and then the battery. Then connect it to iTunes and hope for the best.

Well, yes you can. It just depends on how much money it would take. It would at least need a new screen (20 dollars) and housing (about 30) It still turns on so the logic board is probably fine. Try it with a new screen first and see if it works. If it does, give it a new housing too and you will be all set.
