My icemaker has a problem

my icemaker was making more ice than I was using so I stopped it from making ice about a month. I turned it on tonight and it blew smokey looking stuff that smelled and made a noise so I cut it off again. Any idea what is wrong? Did the motor burn up on the ice maker
