A 6" Wi-Fi e-book reader with touchscreen capabilities, produced by Sony until late 2012.

The rechargable battery has died I guess.. can I replace it myself?

I haven't used it for a couple of years and I think it's battery is out of its function.

I tried open the cover and replace it wish new one but I don't know what batter I should buy or where to buy...

I don't know how I do the wiring as well.

Can any one help?

Hi,

Here is a link to a video which shows how to replace the battery in your reader.

Unfortunately it doesn't show how to open the reader but it looks like it is like most tablet type devices and that the cover is just 'clipped' on and has to be pried open.

To obtain a new battery, once you have the reader open you should be able to get the battery part or model number information, which is printed on the battery itself, and search online using that information to find suppliers of the battery.

Hopefully this is of some help.

it seems feasible but does involve some soldering skills as mentioned here

myself tried the procedure of “just changing” the battery on a PRS-950, without soldering whatsoever, to no avail.

so , yes, it should be possible,

Where did you buy the battery?

Hey! I hope this reaches whoever it needs to. If it's been a couple years and you don't get a charger response, plug into a fast charger (must be type A charger and cable, no adapter), and give it a little while to jump start the battery. This sounds completely unrooted in how tech works....but it does work. Your battery has not cycled enough to die, I promise you. These readers just barely sip power when the wifi is off.
