olguilove, Brother PT-1280 discontinued model. If the laballer happens to be under warranty, use the warranty to return for repair/replacement/refund. Press and hold the power button 10 second's, repeat 3 times to see if device powers up. Remove batteries and clean all the contacts with an ink eraser as it is slightly abrasive and removes tarnish and corrosion well or a Qtip dampened with 90%+ Isopropyl Alcohol. Blow dust debri from compartment and install good quality fresh batteries(installed correctly) and try labeller. Still no go, try using with the power supply. No go, dismantle the device and look for bad/loose connections, broken wires,loose/burnt components, check for bad/cracked solder joints, check power button if able for bad contacts. Clean all connections with Qtip dampened with with 90%+ Isopropyl Alcohol, reassemble and try. Still no go,internal board is probably bad. Find below, link to your manual. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Cleaning all the connections with 90%+ Isopropyl Alcohol, then pressing and holding the power button for 10+ seconds worked for me. Thank you! :) :) :)

I cleaned my battery box with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and inserted the batteries. All is good. Thanks L Pfaff and Ifixit.com

Mine was running on the AC adaptor always and had the same problem: I opened the device (6 screws) and removed the PCB board with the DC connector (1 screw). I measured it with a multimeter and - to my surprise - the blue / orange DC cable did not have power at all though socket itself was properly soldered and had the 9V DC.

After that the 3300uF / 16V capacitor was my major suspicion (often LCD monitors fail due to bad internal power supply caps). I replaced the cap with a Panasonic 2200uF/16V). Afterwards I checked the blue/orange DC cable again this time having 9V DC.

I thought "Done" and was very frustrated to find power button still NOT working suspecting my repair was a failure.

Today I ONCE managed to switch it on after pressing and holding Power button for 10 seconds. It started from default mode.

I assume there is a problem in the PCB board with the ICs on it, could be a minor SMD part which costs a few cent, but unfortunately I don't know how to proceed now.

Make sure your batteries are oriented properly. I may have put them in backwards.
