Phone charging problems, and staying charged after unplug

If the phone works on the charger but not on the battery, it may be that the battery is failing to hold a charge and needs to be replaced. Even rechargeable batteries have a life span.

Here is a link to the ifixit guide to replace the earpiece in the phone. It is handy because in the 1st Step of the guide, it shows how to remove the battery from the phone so that it can be replaced, (you needn't go past this step, -28 seconds into the video - the battery just sits in position, don't undo any screws etc, also ensure that you insert the new battery correctly- note where the battery terminals contact the power terminals in the phone).

Here is a link to just one supplier of a replacement battery. It is not a recommendation to use them, it is shown to give an idea of the price of the battery. There are other suppliers online that might suit you better. Just search for HTC Desire 510 battery to get results.
