How should I proceed to repair this htc one m8

Hello everyone,

My girlfriend found a while ago this broken htc one m8. It's been a long time since we had it and I figured I should try to repair it.

1/ Do you think it's doable ? I've already done two screen replacements on a OnePlus One.

2/ If so, what parts should I buy ? Should I go for a simple LCD screen or should I go for a screen + frame that is a bit more expensive.

The point is that we do not really want to spend money on a phone that might not even works after the screen is replaced.

I'll join a picture of the turned on phone so you can help me.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers

Does the screen turn off and on using the power button immediately on press?

If yes, this indicates the system has booted up and is running normally. Can't say the same for other components of the phone. E.g rear camera, microSD card reader, nano sim card reader.

Whats the model number behind the phone?>

Yes the screen turns on and off on a power button press.

The phone is in a pretty decent state though I guess it's worth a try replacing the screen.

What's your thought ?

No dented or bent phone housing right? (Scratched dented corners is okay.) If that's the case then it's worth replacing the screen.

Check the IMEI number first online to see if it's blocked / barred or not. The sim card tray I think has the IMEI number engraved on it.

If the IMEI is blocked, sim cards won't work on that phone.

The LCD with frame assembly is $30 on eBay. Fairly cheap but make sure you check IMEI number first before getting a screen.

Thanks a lot Ben, I wouldn't have thought to check that.

And according to www.imeipro.info, this phone looks blacklisted.

Any idea if I can bypass this by rooting the phone or anything ?

The model is : 0P6B100. Forgot to answer that.

Blacklisted phone basically means the phone has been reported as stolen.

The only way to unblock a IMEI blocked phone is to change the IMEI.

And that can only be done via programming boxes (Which cost quite a fortune. )

Myself I have one (Called Z3X box) for Samsung or LG phones and that costed me $174 USD and requires quite a bit of technical skill to use, can brick your phone easily if you don't know what you are doing.

Changing IMEI + Screen is probably going to cost you around $80-$100 all up? (If getting someone to change the screen too the price is just going to increase a lot more)

Finding the person that does it is the hard part as you know it's illegal depending on country to do this stuff.

So TL:DR - To change IMEI + screen it will cost too much for you to do or get done by someone.
