After a filter change, the water dispenser stopped working.

I recently changed the filter (MWF) on my GE GSS25SGRGEBSS side-by-side fridge. Immediately after installing I tried to use the water dispenser in order to flush it as indicated in the instructions. The water dispenser has ceased to work. I unscrewed the filter to see if there was any blockage and found that the filter was under a lot of pressure as it tried to shoot the filter off and blew water everywhere in the fridge, or at least whatever water pressure was built up. I've visited several forums and have multiple posts pertaining to the water dispenser. I have tried to soak the filter to make sure that it is full and to bleed the air before installation, I have played with the valve to insure proper water pressure, and I have even tried to ues the old filter and even the bypass adapter. None will provide water through the water dispenser. Also, I have replaced the water filter head with a new OEM part as suggested in another forum. I still have no water from the dispenser. As the water dispenser worked perfectly up until the point I replaced the water filter, I doubt that there is any blockage in the door up to the dispenser. I believe that it could be the water valve, but I want to ask the experts first before I spend anymore money on parts that I don't need. I know that a lot of people have experienced the dispenser not working, but has anyone noticed the build up in pressure in the filter? This happens with both the new, old, and bypass adapter. It never did this before when replacing the filter and I've yet to find anyone mentioning the pressure build up in the filter in any another forum post. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.
