Is it possible to remove the lcd screen from the plastic face plate?

Hello everyone! Recently i carelessly dropped my beloved aqua blue slim PS Vita and cracked my screen. I'll probably never forgive myself for doing that :(. I have seen spare lcd faceplate screens on ebay and such and i have ordered one. I watched a bunch of repair guides and came to the conclusion that i should be able to easily change the screen myself. The only problem is if i do that then the back of the vita will still be that beautiful aqua blue that i love, but the front plate will just be black. I was just wondering if its possible to just replace the actual SCREEN of the device without putting on a new faceplate. I have seen a couple of these screens for sale separately so that leads me to believe that it would be possible but I haven't seen anyone actually do that in any tear down video. Could it just be glued together or something?
