8 Blink red LED for th-p50ut50a

Hi there.

I have a Panasonic Viera TH-P50UT50A (May 2012) and when you turn it on the green LED at the front flashes for a short amount of time and then get 8 blinks from the RED LED on the front of the TV.

I opened the back of the TV & started to isolate the problem PCBs. If i disconnect the (looking at the back of the tv with the cover off) Left hand PCB from the two 'pinkish' wires I get 7 RED blinks on the front of the TV when its turned on. Plug this back in and it returns to 8 blinks.

I disconnected the two pinkish wires going to the board on the right (pinkish wires leads to/from the main power board) and it still has 8 blinks. I found if I disconnected the white ribbon cable on the bottom of the Right hand PCB that leads to the AV input board the TV LED on the front will remain Green & no blinks occur.

Any advice which PCB could be at fault & where can I get some parts for this?

hello i am having the same problem but the opposite, when i turn on the tv i have 7 blink code and when i detach the SE board i get the 8 blink code.

Ben Hallawell as you determined this to have the same chipset as in this question, Light blinks 8 times no picture or sound here is the previous answer which should work for your TV as well:

Symptom: Unit is dead with 8 blinks power LED.

Cause: Defective SS board, part number TXNSS1SDUU.

Remedy:

1. Identify three components on the board: Q16051, D16041 and R16051. Refer to Fig.1

2. Remove above parts from the board. Clean the heat sink and apply fresh compound.

3. Replace with new parts as follows:

• Q16051: DG3D3020CVLW

• D16041: B0FBCN000005

• R16051: D0GF5R6JA047

Inspect all grounding paths around mounting holes on the board and on the PDP panel area and carefully clean noticed arcing marks (Fig.2 and Fig.3) using sand paper with 400~1000 grit.

Of course, if you are not up to soldering those pieces, you can always replace the board.
