Why does my iPhone take so long to charge and die so quickly?

so after going through a IC chip repair, i used many other usb cords but none of them worked except one i got for free., but when i charge it , it takes like almost 4 hours to get it fully charged and as soon as i take it off the phone, the battery percentage decrease! like i had it charged earlier to like 23 and i took the charger out but then it shot down to 1 and died immediately, i dont know whether its the charger itself this is a pain in the ass since i have to charge the phone over 100 times when back then i only had to charge it like twice a day and what bothers me is how the battery goes down quickly even without doing anything, what can i do? ive tried deleting apps, turning off push off my email and lowering the brightness nothing works ! my battery itself works just fine

Several things can cause Battery Drain issues. You will need to isolate some variables in order to get a better understanding of what is wrong. The problem could be a bad battery, excessive current draw from on of the modular components (camera, button, screen) or it could be a problem on the logic board itself.

Here are some things to try:

  • Always use genuine (and known-good) Apple Lightning cables and charge bricks to eliminate poor quality accessories from the equation.
  • It could be a bad battery.
    1. Try replacing with a known-good battery or order a good one from here.
  • You could have excessive current draw from one of the modular components; for example, the backlight, a camera or a sensor. You may notice a hot spot on the phone or screen.
    1. Fully charge the battery first.
    2. Disconnect the battery, then disconnect the flexes for the screen assembly, buttons and cameras, leaving only the Lightning Dock connected to the logic board (iPhone 5c Logic Board Replacement). When you are done, re-connect the battery.
    3. Go back after an hour or more and test the condition of the battery. You will need to download either coconutBattery (Mac) or 3uTools (Windows) to see the battery condition. If it holds a charge well, add a new modular component and text again.
  • It could also be the Lightning port so you could try the same test as above but with the Lightning port disconnected once the battery is charged (connect it back to test the condition of the battery).
  • You may have a damaged logic board. Because you already had a chip replaced, it is possible that this IC was not the problem. There are many components associated with charging issues. Usually it's the Tristar IC but it can be something else. Didn't the repair shop test your device before returning to you?

I would also check the small components right above the battery connector to see if they are knocked off or damaged as they are missing the battery isn't read correctly.

Not sure if you have mentioned that already.

Could’ve that apple sucks because I read they deliberately sent an update to make it take longer to charge older phones and then after rightfully deserved public exposure and disgrace & backlash for doing that they added an update to disable it. The update is called IOS 11.3

The original question was “why does the phone take so long to charge” the secondary question was why does it then drain so quickly. The update I mentioned adds a battery saving feature...after installing the update navigate to “settings” select “battery” then tap “battery health”
