Display shows scanner error. Turn it off & back on, no results. Still says scanner error. Can't scan, copy and color printing is terrible. Unable to clean nozzles.

The problem may be that the scanner movement is jammed or the motor is defective. If you can open the scanner section, check the belt that moves the scan head for free movement (do this with power off and power disconnected).
This is a common problem with all in one printers, one device fails and the other devices are not available until the failing device is repaired or replaced.
