Bypass power supply to plug on 12v

Hi,

I would like to plug my mac on a 12V network on a boat.

I know how to create the voltage and current needed, but I don"t know what 's needed !?

To do so, I am desperately looking for the description of the PSU DC output strip, just like this example :

Block Image

PSU model found is 661-7512 or ADP 185 BFT

This way, i can just bring the needed voltage and current to each input pin of the motherboard and power the mac on.

Thank you in advance for your help!

(question 2: there are 3 strips : a DC output, a AC output, and a PSU command (ON/OFF) according to the PSU replacement guide of this website. ). What 's the AC output for ???) thx)

Julien

Once you alter the system you won't be able to get anyone to fix it. Best to stick with the inverter & UPS setup. Generators are noisy and don't offer a clean enough voltage to go the direct DC route.

just my two cents advise to get a inverter, best if UPS protected, if the voltage fluctuate it can cause damage to your imac.

directly connect to your imac is not a good idea imo.

While the generator is starting, the generator voltage and frequency are not stable.

it would be good to place a UPS between.

e.g.

12V outlet >>> inverter >> ups >> imac

maybe someone has a better idea or product to help?

I love a challenge however if you go this route you don't have to get into your iMac there's only two wires you have to hook up on the boat and that's the wire of your self a cigarette lighter style 12 plug-in (If one doesn't already exist). I would recommend purchasing a power inverter with ample wattage rating that is well above the rating for your iMac, Power inverters are cheap better to have too much tonight use it. I hope this gives you some options.

@josephjame82272 - iMac's don't have a battery for its main power.

How about creating a fresh question with your systems info and what you are attempting.
