Outside ariel won't provide channels to TV

Okay so I have an outside ariel that can plug directly into the back of my Sky Box and give it signal to receive channels

If I want to plug it into my TV I need this:

The ariel will then screw into that hole then into my TV but when I scan for channels it will not find any channels at all. If I plug it back into the sky box it will give it signal to find channels so I know it works

Does anybody know why this won't work? Or is somehow the dish ONLY giving signal to a sky box? the box is a one of the oldest ones.

edit: when i use the adapter for the sky box it also gets no signal either, so maybe the adapter that doesn't work
