Smart Switch will tell you either the phone is lock. If you know the unlock code try to access the phone through the broken screen. After that you need to tap "Allow" to allow smart switch to back up the unit.

This is located in the center right. I would just tap around to see if you magically hit the button.

If you're able to do this, you can successfully back up. If not, then sorry.

If you're confident in the screen replacement then do so. Otherwise go ahead and bring it to a technician. Data should not be lost during the repair, however stuff happens. So this will not be a guarantee.

If you have connected your phone to your PC/Mac before you can connect it up to SmartSwitch and backup all your data you may have to connect it as a media device. Failing that you should be able to take it to a repair store and have them just attach a screen to it and back it up that way. Thats the service i offer to customers anyway
