Why wont my Beats turn on?

I noticed that when I tilted my head to a certain angle while listening to something the left ear would stop playing sound, eventually the headphones just turned off. I thought the battery just ran out but when I plugged it in (to my computers usb port) it had 3/5 battery indicators lit up, but it still wouldn't turn on. My computer gave me a notification saying the device malfunctioned and it couldn't recognize it.

I've tried holding the power button for 10 seconds and holding both the power button and the pause button for 2 minutes, neither worked.

I downloaded the beats updater but that says they're perfectly fine. Is there any way to reset them or fix this in another way (other than holding the power button and pause button)?

EDIT: They work fine when plugged in with an aux cable.

Have you tried resetting them?

Hold down these two buttons for 10 seconds:

Power button

Volume down (-) button

When the Fuel Gauge flashes, release the buttons. Your headphones are now reset and ready to be set up with your devices again.

Yes I've tried that. It flashes like normal but still wont turn on.

w00t! Mine wouldn't turn on at all. I did as warhammercasey suggested: power + the upper volume for 10 seconds = presto, went into pairing mode and now work. very nice. Tha ks!

Try this: Put your Beats on the charger. Once they are on the charger, hold down the power button for 20 seconds. After the 20 seconds, unplug your beats and turn them on. They should work right away. I just was having problems with my own Beats Solo 3 and I tried this. Instant results.

The lights on my headphones aren't working and I can't turn them on but this method worked...but after a while they turned off on their own...

Headphones randomly turned off and wouldn't show charge or connect, this worked for me. Should blink for a few seconds and turn back on after 20 seconds. Thank you!

just brought to Apple and they asked $129 to fix it, $129 is the flat cost regardless any issue or cost of fix.. if they couldn’t fix it then replace with new one..

it was just 16month old, service guy just said it would happened and I am just one of unlucky guy..

What a quality and service.. Apple is talking about the lucky or unlucky.. they should talked about their quality process or system.. not just luck… and I think  they are also trying  to make money with their quality issue…

Same thing, have to use the aux cable, first pair did the same thing too, these things are junk!

I'm mad myself honestly.

I bought a pair of Beats Solo 3 headphones, had them for 11 months; the Bluetooth transponder died... They warrantied it, luckily... Then the SAME problem happened AGAIN three months later and they won't warranty it because the initial purchase date was 14 months prior.

I have the same problem. It would charge but if i unplug, it wont turn on. I tried everthing but it wouldnt work. Please help!!

I still havent found a solution, but as a temporary one, you can use the aux cord that comes with it. They still work with that, they just arent bluetooth.

Had same issues Popped open the left side and plugged back in tiny connectors that came undone now they work fine

A guy just sold me one on eBay for $80. he said the bluetooth doesn't work anymore, and he doesn't know why. so he's giving me one with an aux cable

cool price, i'd sell mine for $80 too for that same bluetooth problem.. i actually thought my beats had finally stopped working not knowing it was just the bluetooth that isn't working anymore lol

$80 seems like a good deal for a pair, even with the damage.

I had a pair of Solo 3 headphones, they broke but were covered under warranty; then the same thing happened a few months later...

Sold them to a guy on Facebook Marketplace for $100

Apple, HA! They are so blood thirsty… They WILL NOT GIVE ANYTHING AWAY for Free.

Which is a shame, because I really used to swear by Apple Products. SMH

I agree 100%, I had a minor issue with a iPhone 4s so I brought it in... the very first person I talked to in the store asked what issue I was having, I told him, and he sent me on my way with a brand new phone.. it was out of warranty too. they just don't do that anymore.. like you said. BLOOD THIRSTY.. I am starting to not like apple.. like at all. its a shame. smh..

I quit buying Apple products after I had the iPhone 4 (base) and a pair of Beats Solo 3 headphones many years later.

Their phones are trash, overpriced as they can be... Their headphones may look cool, but for $200-$300 I could get -WAY- better sounding headphones from Sony or Bose.

I’ve had this same proble after 11 months they just stopped working even though the charging light still comes on

To fix this issue you need to replace inner 5 core wire, requires soldering iron and repair skills

You're the best, the Grand Master in repairing headphones. Hehe, you save my research in this, I'd repair with this method, I'd cannot replace the cable but I did a little surgery so I'd put a little bridge with another cable. So now the headphones turn on!!! Excelent!

Same issue here. I already contacted apple 4 months ago. It took them over a month to send me a shipping box to repair it. By the time it finally arrived I had already moved. My airpods are awesome, I have hated the beats from day one.

Most likely the power board went out. The same issue was happening to me. Beats would charge fine but would not come on. I replaced the power board have been working fine.

how did you change the powerboard?

? Like my headphones arent wireless? They are I had a couple months of wireless usage before they stopped turning on.

I have a pair of bests solo 3 wireless I got for Xmas 2018 and there’s no power light on them even though I charged them overnight. tried the suggestions above but nothing. Has anyone had this problem or a fix for it?

I am having the same issues with my Beats Solo 3 wireless headphones as well. It has been over a year now and I have given up with trying to fix them. I refuse to pay apple $129 to fix them. I know that there is a mechanical way to fix them and I am going to try that route. I will let all know how things go!

I did same thing, be careful when you're taking ear piece a part plastic is very fragile and will result further cost for new one if you brake it, also be careful when you're unplugging cables from motherboard don't pull them with force you can damage motherboard, watch video guide and take your time (no rush) and everything will be fine I already fixer more than 10 of them with same problems

I’m trying to fix them with all of your guys suggestions but my beats remain the way they were if there is any chance you guys can help me I would be so grateful. these where a gift from my parents and they where very expensive

My suggestion would be to just plainly get rid of them.

As a teenager, I used to really want a pair of Beats as they were the headphones everyone wanted back when I was still in school... but now the older I get, I've realized they're junk for how much they cost...

You can get headphones made by Bose and Sony for the same price as Beats, but the Bose and Sony headphones sound -way- better.

It seems the power button failed with us. Although I bought a new Airpods Max for my daughter, I opened the beats Solo3, just disconnected the battery and reconnected and the Beats booted up. It is just the button that failed, we try now to keep the Beats always on in stead of shutting it down. And we have an expensive backup.

Mine were not turning on for a few days; not even the one red dot or white light when I plugged it in. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this earlier but.. I plugged the beats into a different outlet and the red dot turned on, along with the white dot a few seconds later. One of the happiest moments of my freakin life.

Honestly, as someone who has owned three pairs of Beats headphones so far… I suggest ditching the brand entirely… They’re overpriced for the quality of item you get.

I bought a used pair of Beats Solo 3 headphones online a long time ago, they broke a few months later; but were luckily warrantied since they weren’t too old yet… A few months later, the OEM Refurbished pair broke; had the -same- issue they had just repaired three months prior…

I sold the broken replacement pair to someone locally, then gave up on the brand and began searching for other headphones. Then a few weeks later, I got offered a deal that was too good to pass up from one of my co-workers… Ended up getting a pretty much brand new pair of Solo Pro’s for $100 off of him, so I bought them. Admittedly, I rarely ever touch them now just because I’ve realized Beats’ headphones aren’t worth the hype… They don’t sound as good as a lot of the cheaper units you can find online.

I don't have a answer but I have the same problem it wont tern on at all like no light I don't have the charger with me but I will in like 5 or so hours it might work with that but I don't know so if anyone has a solution without the charger that would be good but if anyone just have a solution that would be good to
