New hard disk cable doesn't work

after I had the famous folder with the question mark and I could no longer see my hard drive in the internet recovery menu, I thought that this might be a defective HD. However, it was recognized with USB adapter on my other Mac and I could also boot on the "defective" Macbook by USB adapter. So only the hard drive cable remained as a possible problem, since this seems to be the case very often. So I ordered a new one from the ifixit store and just installed it, but the problem was not fixed. The hard disk is also not recognized with the new cable, even after I have formatted it with the USB adapter on the other Mac.

I really hope that someone knows what this could be or how it could be fixed. :)

When that cable gets damaged by being either hit on the upper ledge or from the hard drive sitting on it and vibrating against the bottom rough surface, it can also damage the data of the hard drive. If you have another bootable USB disk, hook up the original externally and the other USB drive (now the boot source), and run Disk Utilities on it.

Ok thank you! I don't have another usb disk at the moment, but will download the macOS installer and make one. But the Problem should not be the hard drive. It worked perfectly and I could connect it via USB adapter to my other Macbook and save all the data from it and i could even boot from it while connected via USB and could use my System as always. It just doesn't work, when connected via SATA internally with the old SATA cable and with the new SATA cable.

I've probably replaced a hundred or these cables. In. 50% of the cases the data has been damaged. 25% of the time the hard drives have been destroyed. Earlier this year Apple was replacing these cables (on this model) for free, so It's a very well know issue. I place slick electrical tape on the surface of the lower case where the cable runs. Then pads or thick tape on either side of the cable as it tops onto the optical drive.

I just made the USB boot stick and plugged it in together with the original hard disk, which was also just plugged in via USB adapter. Then I booted from the stick to the install menu und went into disk utility and the "Macintosh HD" was there, as ist should be. But when I do the same thing with the "Macintosh HD plugged in via the new and replaced SATA cable internally, it doesn't show up.

Is the original internal drive hooked up via USB or in the machine. I'd like you to test tit both ways.

I testet both. First hooked up via USB and then in the machine via SATA. It just shows up via USB.
