My iPhone has just frozen and is only displaying the Apple Symbol. It wont turn on or off or the home button doesnt work. I tried to plug it into my computer and do an update with iTunes but it didnt make any difference. I hope that some one can help me

Put it in DFU mode and do a firmware restore. then sync it with Itunes to get your stuff back on there...

try holding the power button and the home button till it resets.

Have you replaced any components on your phone? If you purchased from someone off of ebay, craigslist, etc. There is a good chance you have parts that are not compatible with the firmware you are using. I see this happening with phones that are jail broken. Changing firmware to jailbreak can cause parts to become non-compatible too.

Does iTunes recognise the phone is plugged in? Does it offer choice to restore or give any message when plugged in?

it recognises it but then it will disappear off my screen. It is like it is trying to reset all the time. I put it into DFU mode but it still has the black screen with the apple symbol :(
