Tracing light pad won't light up, any advice to fix it?

My tracing light box doesn't work, and it's not due to the plug wire (I checked with the electrician tester and it's working ok).

The light does not turn on when I press the button, so I guess I should open the device and check the internal connections or led itself, but I don't know how to start!

The pad is so thin and looks so unaccessible.. it has no visible screws either.. any advice?

Thanks so much (-:-)

I have this problem to, but I think its something with the wires, Its super sensitive and randomly shuts off while im tracing, Im not sure if I should get a new cord or maybe its something internal?

Im having this problem also and it is brand new! i cant find help anywhere !

Hi I've got the same problem. The switch seems to be broken but I can't figure out how to open the lightpad in order to change the switch.

Yes mines just gone, the lead is loose and a poor fit. Last night it flickered and went off not worked since despite buying a new lead. The fixture inside the box that connect the lead is the problem, it’s too wide for the connector to fit snug. Mines going in the bin and see if I can buy a better one.

Pull the white back off it’s only taped on.

I had the same problem. I tried two fingers, more pressure...and on. I was eventually able to fix it (it was a dislodged lead).

The white backing is held on by two-sided tape. You can cut it loose by inserting an x-acto between the back and the clear part. From there, gently remove the sheet of backing plastic. You can at this point see the wiring and circuitry. My problem was a lead pulled off from the LED strip. I simply soldered on a new wire to the strip and then soldered the new wire to the old–voila! You'll see once the back is off that it's cheaply assembled, and some of the leads can be pinched as they're routed around the perimeter.

I apologize I didn't take any pictures.

I had the same problem, but when I tried to press the buttons with two or more fingers, it started to light again. Maybe this helps you too? Use more fingers and/or press with more pressure.

Thank you so much for your help @maykitzy, it had probably sthg to do with that, as I opened the device and saw that there was a little foam between the tiny electronic board and the plastic covering the device at its background. This foam was placed just below the outter button, and it didn't look high enought to reach the outside button when you'd press it, so I added a little piece of paper to gain volume, and now the light works. The only problem is that you can't turn on and off the device through the button, and you need to unplug the device instead.. but that's ok enough for the moment. Thanks again!

No mine hasn’t worked, took the back off can’t see any loose wires, must be the circuit board. I use mine for the 5D diamond paintings. Well peed off.

I have meet the same problem , and at last I changed to a XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro Drawing Tablet with Screen .

Artist 15.6 Pro Display Drawing Tablet with full pencil and pressure sensitivity– So I'm able to work in full apps like photoshop and illustrator as needed for work. It is pricey (stupid subscription model) though and my free trial is about to expire, but I think i'll renew it. Alternatively there is affinity designer which is a photoshop/illustrator like competitor that is inexpensive and very powerful .

I have the same thing happening after just a few week of evening hours. The connector cord is already loose and wiggling and duct taping it everywhere is a cat and mouse game. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t. Slightest movement and it switches off. So fed up and now looking for a better quality manufacturer.

Now working.

My Savfy A4 LED lightbox (model A4-DWT) stopped turning on after about 2yrs. I pealed off the back which was held on with double sided adhesive tape to expose the tiny circuit board with its string of 21 LED’s. All looked fine and there was 5v on the circuit board from the USB supply, as expected.

The board had a capacitive disc for switching, unmarked IC, A09T transistor, a few capacitors and resistors. All to turn of/on and do dimming/brightening.

I found just touching the front or the rear of the circuit board, by the capacitive disc, with my finger (its only 5v so quite safe) showed every working.

So I drilled and chamfered a 10mm hole in the 0,5mm thick plastic rear cover (and covered with sellotape to keep out dus) so I had finger access to the capacitive disc area and everything worked.

(I suppose I could have removed and drilled the hole in the front cover which would have been more touch sensitive (as the disc is on the top surface of the circuit board) but it looked better having the hole on the under surface where it couldn’t be seen).

I don’t know why the capacitive switching assembly became less sensitive and needed

this modification, perhaps the IC or transistor was degrading with time/usage.

I peeled the back off mine to clean and fix. Now it is all dim everywhere except where the tape is holding it together.

Update: Four years later this modification is still working. Note: being a touch-sensitive switch, it only need to be touched lightly for a fraction of a second.

Adding to this thread for anyone else who may stumble upon it/find it helpful.

I plugged a power adaptor with the wrong polarity into my Daylight Wafer Lightbox. (Really need to start labeling them…)

Afterward it would still power on, though only very dimly and if you tried to turn the brightness up beyond a certain point it would flicker and then turn off.

I replaced the voltage regulator on a hunch and all is right again!

What about fixing a problem I have: the light is only bright enough on it's highest setting over (across) three fourths of the board? The rest just does not shine through very brightly.

Hi all thanks for your tips. So for my part i removed the backlit. On the black chip , 4 pin on each side , i short circuited pin 2&3 and the leds turn on. So i welded pin 2&3. Cannot change the light level but it works!

So far nothing I tried has helped. I tried a Tracing light pad won't light up, any advice to fix it? power cord used a probe to push power on but no help. It's got the guarantee for a couple of weeks but only Amazon knows about that. If I opened it, I only have a hammer to finish it off. Amazon would not help so I guess this company won't do more. Thanks to all the good suggestions.

Comment is above. I just don't want to type it all again. Guess I am out of luck except passing the word around in my community and maybe Facebook. SM

I peeled the back off, cleaned, and fixed, but now it is dim everywhere but the tape.
