None of my games will play but a video on umd will. I've cleaned the games and the laser on the psp. I updated the software and tried other various things. Sometimes the games will be recognized but they will not play. Please help.

Chris tell us what you tried. Checked the laser and cleaned it? Removed the battery to reset it? did you check inside the psp unit, notice the rail (silver with lines on it) move or slide the laser which is the square metal box attached on the rail. make sure there is nothing blocking the laser from sliding. The more detail you can provider the more help we can give you. The laser lights up and moves, the motor also works. Sometimes games will load, more often not than they do but I have one video umd that will work. The rest of the psp works fine but will not play games.

Chris did you check on the link to see if that makes any difference? This way we know that all of that works and we can try to further troubleshoot your PSP

yes i did everything the link suggested. do you think the motherboard or the disc drive is bad?

I really hate to say those things since it is difficult to determine that by long distance but I would think that you have an error with the drive. May be you can start of cheap and replace that part first Good Luck to you and do let us know what happens. A chance for all of us to learn more.
