I took my wife's phone to a cell phone repair shop to have the charge port replaced. They attempted to replace it, but did not do it correctly, and they damaged the microphone while soldering. No it cannot be used for calling, and still won't charge. Is the microphone hard to replace? Are you in the process of making a procedure to do so in this model?

not sure if im right but by this photo it seems like the mic is nowhere near the charge port so how they damaged it is beyond me

I completely agree. But the service tech said that was the problem, and that it was very common. So that's just where I'm starting. No one can hear her during a call unless it's on speakerphone. Is that a symptom of a damaged mic, or something else?
its possibly a common problem. i would suggest backing up the phone and doing a factory reset to see if that solves the problem
