I've had no problem within Safari using one of these methods: List of best ways to save YouTube videos on Mac 2017
I had used Airy a while ago which did the job but it's not free after the first two downloads. Depending on the age off the vid you can use Safari following the instructions in the link.

Does Apples Safari work?

Apple's Safari does not offer video download within it. It needs to be purchased separately. Whereas it is a free option in Firefox. It supports the YouTube protocol natively.
