If it's exactly the same as with a different screen I'd guess the connector connecting the screen to the main board might be a damaged or dirty or not properly seated, or you've got a faulty main board, or you've somehow managed to damage the new screen or its ribbon in the same way through mis-installation. (Though in the latter case the pattern of stripes would almost certainly be slightly different.)
It sounds like it could possibly be something wrong with the connectors on the logic board itself. Does it look like any pins are missing? May have to use a magnifying glass to see.
