Black screen VIZIO D500i-B1

The TV works just fine if I plug-in the power supply and turn it on with the remote. It continues working as soon as I don't turn it off. Once I turn it off with remote, I'm not able to turn it on. I get the black screen, no sound, no black light is visible, the menu is not visible during the flash light test, and 5V present on power supply board. I can also see the standby light. The only way how TV starts working again is if I turn it off, wait at least 1 hours (with TV completely unplugged from the power) and plug it back to power supply again. Once I do that, TV starts working again unless I turn it off with the remote. Ideas how to determine what is really causing this issue would be appreciated.

I have the same issue. My research says its likely a bad capacitor but looking at the board there’s nothing looking like its expanded, and I’m not knowledged enough to test it for myself. For me this started soon after some power outages (happens intermittently, but more frequently for me now to where i have to unplug it when not in use). It was on a surge protector at the time, but a rather old one. Not sure if there was damaged caused there in my case. Hope this helps, its a great TV and a shame if I have to replace it.

Same thing here - My Visio E420i-B0 died last night after 10 years of daily use. Screen went black in the middle of a program, sound stayed on. The "V" logo appears at power on, then after 2 seconds screen goes black. The power on led stays lit. I called Vizio, gave them my serial number and the lady said it's not worth the cost to repair, seems unfortunate. So I just ordered a Vizio V435-J01 43" 4k. Should be a good upgrade, I hope it lasts 10 years like the previous one did. :-)
