JBL Charge 3 won't turn OFF (and stay off)

Have a JBL Charge 3 I bought 13 months ago. Last week it was kicked into the pool courtesy of my 5 year old. It saw water on all sides as it rolled, it floated, and was never fully submerged, the rear flap covering the charge ports etc was securely closed.

Since then, it won't power OFF (and stay off). I push the power button and all the usual sounds play and it turns off. However within 5 seconds it turns itself back on and will reconnect to my phone via BT.

Has the same issue if attached to power or running off battery. It's been on 4 days now and still has plenty of charge. Still works, just not optimal and a bit frustrating.

Hopefully someone has an idea of what might be going on.

My jbl charge 3 does not want to run. It just goes off when I unplug it from the charger

I have an Xtreme 2 which won't shut off nor will it do a hard reset (+ and ∆) ….

So like an idiot I bought a second one and now they both won't work or shut off ???

Hold power button and play button about 10 seconds till the Charge3 shuts itself. You will hear the speakers “click" off. This will power it down completely without resetting the bluetooth. When i do this it keeps the charge3 off, but when i turn it back on, i have to do the power/play buutton 10 sec hold every time. Its like my power button needs reset every time i use it.

Worked perfect. I had a solid power light on and nothing would work. Tried the reset with + and > buttons multiple times. Pressing the power and > buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds worked.

Try doing a reset:

· Power ON the device, then press and hold the "Volume+" and the "Play/Pause" buttons at the same time. When the device switches off after a few seconds, sounding the OFF prompt, it has been reset.

· After performing the master reset in your speaker, please delete/unpair the JBL Charge 3 bluetooth history in your device (phone/laptop/tablet) and re-connect.

This reset is also a great way to get rid of any annoying (interfering) connected devices after too many of your buddies have used your speaker to play their music.

Thanx, I was wondering why would someone reset the charge 3 to begin with but now I know based on your answer

For me is same like on jbl charge 4 now it nervous me and my fathers so imb gonna remove battery cause no information for it

I have reset these buds more than once they disconnect from one another and now the lights stay on. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone. I wish I could return them since I still have time but because of COVID19 I cannot.

I have followed these steps and there is no way I can turn it off unless I force it for about 10 seconds, my device is new, it literally has less than one day of use, I provided it yesterday and today I began to see that it no longer responded the same. If there is any answer for that I would appreciate it ..

I keep trying and it refuses to turn off until the battery dies..I hadn’t noticed that it wAs staying in but I’ve had to charge it a lot more often than I used to do it must have been staying on

I am experiencing the same issue with my charge 4. I can’t get a good night sleep with the speaker turning on/ restarting by itself. its so annoying. it wakes me up in the middle of the night with its booting sound. such a waste of money.

Put it to charge for at least 8 hours. This will force close your JBL device and then once you start it again it will work properly. Tested and worked for me.

So i tried to reset mine and it didn’t do anything. So i just kept on pressing the power button and the button that connects your speaker to other speakers and it just randomly turned off. A miracle

In case someone else still googles this issue:

This happened to my old charge 3 while it was in my bag during heavy rain. Opened it, and found dampness under the rubber that seals the buttons. Drying it all with a cloth and hairdryer fixed this issue.

Also lights indicating charge went dark. Think they died permanently.

Edit: after drying the circuit with lights, even they function now.

Edit2: The whole speaker had to be opened completely. Did remove the battery, but not the motherboard and ports. Did open them all tho, and used a small towel and hairdryer to circuits and insides, since there was drops of water everywhere.

Left the whole thing open for a few days. Put the rubber buttons in a sealed bag, as it has a glue surface.

Today, put the whole thing back together and it's working like there never was any issue to begin with.

Probably spoiled water seals with this, then again, they weren't really good to begin with apparently.
