Touch ID works after screen repair but home button doesn't work

Touch ID works after screen repair but home button doesn't work. Ipad is running latest IOS. The home button clicks just fine but it will not function as a home button. No bends, kinks or crinkles in the cable and the home button looks great. I am at a loss on this one.

did you get the part with, or without the home button?

does the button click properly, or feel like its always pressed?

I am re-using the original and the finger print scanner works perfectly. The home button has a normal clicking feel but it does not send the message to the iPad.

I would doubles check the flex again, it really doesn't take much to cause issues. Use magnification and look for tiny tears. The issue may also be in the way you secured the Home Button bracket. If it's not solidly in place, then everything will depress at the same time and you will not get the actuator to click.

Use this guide as a reference.

I have gone over the ribbon with magnification and I am unable to see any imperfections. The button clicks perfectly and it has a fast response to the finger print reader. Perhaps there is a malfunction with the circuit on the ribbon cable itself?

In the flex of the button there is a small IC and a sheet. There are more components in the sheet, but they should be well protected. In the IC that you see, you see no apparent damage? If only one piece is loose, it will not be seen with the naked eye.

I'm afraid it will hurt to remove it. It is very similar to some cases in ip7 / 8
