Why wont my phone turn back on?

My phone shut off and now it wont turn back on and I thought maybe it needed to be charged even though it wasn’t even close to dying when I had it on earlier but i came home and plugged it in and the charging light wont even come on! and out of no where the day before it was saying something about the simcard but I never knew where it even was.... HELPPP.
