Is it the LCD screen or the logic board?
I recently replaced the LCD screen on my iPhone 3g. It worked fine for a couple of days. I realized I left a piece of protective film over the LCD (I know, pretty stupid...not sure how I missed that), so I took it apart, pealed the film off, and put the whole thing back together.
This time I had difficulty getting ribbon cable #1 attached. When I finally did, the screen was all white. I opened it and made sure #1 was attached right, and in messing with it, I got the screen to work right...for a moment or two. Then white again. Then, after a couple of minutes of messing with it, black, and it stayed that way.
The phone works, meaning it rings when i call it, I can reset it, and it vibrates when I put it on silent.
So, do I need to replace the LCD again, or have I damaged the logic board in some way?
