Why does my Mac sometimes doesn't want to startup?

I've changed my Mac's storage to a SSD (Corsair Elite Force 480 GB) which was working. Then, one day my Mac won't startup, I figured it was the SATA cable was not working. I bought a new one and exchanged it. Now it sometimes it so laggy I shut it down from the power button and sometimes it starts up with a blinking question marked folder!!

Please help! =D

Can you give us your exact model as that makes a big difference here! Go to this web site and plug in your systems serial number: EveryMac - Lookup Once you find your system post the systems URL here for us to see.

I'd like to add: for your info, I once purchased 6 HDD cables in one lot and ALL of them were defective. So you can't rule out that the original cable went bad then you replaced it with a defective cable, until you've tried a known good part. Or at least a new part from a different supplier.

Very true Rany!

Yeah, some of the replacement cables out there are total trash.

Like all the above and to be honest I use to buy replacement cables on on the cheap as replacements when carrying out repairs (the customer new, however it was a cheap option than an original) however every single one without exception would come back no matter where I bought the cables from, you can't beat the original.

However it could be an expiation that you've gotten a faulty ssd the chances a slim but theres always a possibility. if you can next time you get the folder see if you can boot into network recovery and see the drive in Disk Utility, try running a first aid on it and see if you get any sort of errors.

Also as you haven't stated the year, the older versions of these MacBook Pros I believe used SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) this is rare but sometimes you can have problems with SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) SSD with a SATA II connection.

You say you changed the drive to an SSD, if the old HDD wasn't faulty and you still have it you can try that in a see if you still have the issues.
