Why is my charger port overheating on my laptop

Hello everyone

So I’ve had this laptop for about 2 years now, just recently it started giving me issues. When it charges the port gets super hot and starts to melt the plastic around it. At first I thought it was my charger so I ordered a new one and today I tested it and apparently that wasn’t the issue.

Only the charger port area gets hot nothing else, so I know it’s not the fact that I’m playing games that are to demanding. It even gets hot when I’m just on the desktop.

If anyone can help me find the issue that would be great.

MSI GE72 Apache pro

GTX 960

12GB ram

2.7ghz

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head, sry not on my pc right now.
