I have the the 2011 Panasonic TC-P42S30 Viera plasma TV that just shut off by itself. At first the red light was blinking 12 times in sessions. I tried all the advice I read above. Nothing has worked. I even unplugged it for a night. and tried the above, Nothing. :(
Any other advice????? 3/2018

@msmouse30 the Panasonic 12 blink code is described as :
12 Blinks Error Code
These 3 conditions can cause the TV to shut down and the power LED to blink 12 times
1. A Board.
2. Pinched speaker wire.
3. Speakers
The transistor Q4930 monitors the speaker amplifier IC (IC4900). Pin 3 is normally high. If IC4900 or one of the speakers develops a short circuit, pin 3 goes low causing Q4930 to go into conduction and output a high to pin AG22 of the System CPU (IC8000) on the A board.
When this happens, the TV shuts down and the power LED blinks 12 times.

I have an old Panasonic TV purchased in 2004 it requires a lamp so now the lamp has to be replaced and it is now shutting off by itself and very difficult to get back on I have to keep pressing the buttons it stays on for sure time then it goes off when the message on the screen disappears it will stay on until I shut it off
should I get this repaired by a repairman

I fixed it.
I had to Frankenstein my tv though. I took off the plastic panel, after unscrewing all the back screws. My Panasonic Viera would flicker on the bottom left side before it turned off. So, I went under that bottom left side after taking off the panel. I ripped out the speaker. Then, there’s a jumble of wires that runs to the blinking red light in front. I took that out. Since then, tv works.
Looks like a Frankenstein tv though. I ripped off the panel.

The comment above does not pertain to my TV I put the TV on it stays on for a few minutes and then goes off when I try to turn it on again it stays on for a few seconds and then goes off again I just can't get it to stay on and I just put in a new lamp

Hi @ldlady883,
I was just curious if you ever found out what was causing the issue on your TV. I have the same problem as you - i.e. The screen will completely turn on for 2 seconds then turn off.
Once it turns off, the red “remote” light on the bottom left of the TV will blink once every 4 seconds indefinitely.
