6s replacement Battery shows "Battery Service" on ios 11.3 Beta

Someone on ios 11.3 Beta with an iFixit replacement Battery yet? It shows 'Service' in the new Battery Health Tab.

If you scroll down on the following Article, Apple explains that:

Battery health unknown

If iOS is unable to determine the device battery health, you'll see this message:

This iPhone is unable to determine battery health. An Apple Authorized Service Provider can service the battery. More about service options…

This may be due to having an improperly installed battery or an unknown battery part.

Someone else got experiences on this yet?

The Problem seems to be the electronics inside the iFixit replacement battery. I thought every aftermarket battery would habe this problem expect the original ones from apple. But i recently replaced a 6 battery on a customers phone with an 10$ ebay one, wich said the battery health is in very good condition without saying “Battery service”.

With this conclusion in mind, i think iFixit either doesn’t care about this issue or they cannot built this feature in becaue of legal or copyright issues. Witch would explain why the ebay sellers can do that, because they are mostly no registred firms and they are too many.

So, i would like to hear an official answer is this feature will come to the iFixit ones, at this moment, I see no reason to built this ones in when the cheaper ebay ones got this feature. It’s really dissapointing and most customers asked me why I replaced their battery with an defect one because of the service message.

I have noticed that aftermarket batteries show "Service" on iphones 6s and above.

If you replace an iPhone 6 battery with an aftermarket it will show "healthy"

found a solution: i pressed down on my screen where the battery is from outside the phone and pressed around the phone not hardly and i weny back and it worked. reason being this happened is that the motherkeyboard is loose from the battery so its not functioning. but if you press they joint together and start working

I recently replaced my iPhone 6 battery as it was dying extremely fast. Even after the replacement it was still dying fast so I decided to calibrate the battery and even after that it was still dying fast. Then I decided to back up my iCloud and then erase all content incase my iPhone was hacked or something. And it’s STILL dying really fast. My parents won’t buy me a new phone so I just want to fix this issue without any expenses. Please help me.

It's possible that your battery is in poor health but because this is a beta version, it's also possible that there is an error in the diagnostic.

I can't speak for iOS 11.3 Beta but one thing you can do is to use a battery utility, such as coconutBattery (for Mac) or 3uTools (for Windows). It will tell you what the health of the battery is. Anything less than 70% of design capacity will require replacement.

I have had the same experience after installing iOS 11.3 on two iPhone 6 in my household.

Both have iFixit replacement batteries which I installed a month or two ago. 3uTools shows the battery of my phone as 98%, I did not check the other.

I am assuming that the beta version of Battery Health shows non-Apple sourced batteries as "Service". Will have to see if this changes in a future version....

I think it's the reason, better to use an original battery,it only costs a bit more

I replaced my battery in my 7 for a new Apple battery and iOS 11.3 still shows 'service'. 3UTools shows it as 100% and 2 charge cycles!

Mine - from authorized Apple Service also show “Service”.

And it only shows “maximum capacity”, but no % (I.e 100%).

I’ll call them tommow just to make sure if it’s just beta being beta, or my battery is not genuine after all...

Had exact same issue. Took it back to a different Apple store yesterday for another replacement and it's now properly recognised. Guy there said the first store should have run post-fitment diagnostics!!

Just replaced an iPhone 6 battery with a new iFixit and my customer is having same issue, of course my full assumption is that Apple has plans for detecting non-Apple hardware in their devices (just like the home buttons) so you MUST purchase their cost controlled (i.e. oligarchy - but not necessarily superior) hardware (of course I will note that my iPhone 6 with an iFixit battery from several months ago is perfectly fine).

5 month later - checking in, customer STILL has problem with no battery percentage so time will not fix it. At this point and time I'm going to assume that something didn't recognize the new battery or diagnostics in phone aren't picking it up but there is no fix outside of new battery.

I've replaced numerous iPhone batteries. Not all aftermarket batteries are the same. That goes for both laptop and smartphone batteries.

In my experience, most aftermarket batteries properly show battery health, but some do not. It is dependent on the qualities of the electronics on the battery itself.

I recently replaced my daughters iPhone 6 Plus battery that I bought on eBay, for an ifixit one. The eBay Chinese battery showed battery health. The ifixit does not. Guess we will know for sure once the battery health feature comes out of beta. A little disappointed ifixit doesn’t disclose this issue.

This sounds very interesting! So it should be possible for iFixit to include this feature.

I have the same problem. I replaced the battery of my iPhone 6 at Bestbuy (Authorized Apple service provider). The Battery Health Beta won’t work. I took it back to Bestbuy but they couldn’t fix the problem.

The technician upgraded the IOS to 11.4 hopping that this will solve the problem , but no luck. He gave up and told me to give it a couple more days, it might fix by itself. Also he gave me the option to give me another phone (refurbished). I’m planning to go back to do just this, get a new phone.

I have a certified apple battery, so does both my children and we all have 11.4 with battery (beta). I don’t use beta so how did this happen?

@loriprest it's normal, the battery software is also on beta stage inside the non beta iOS software (11.4)

Replaced my battery today with Ifixit. My battery Health says service, and peak performance and maximum capacity is blank. Not that it’s necessary, since I rarely look at it. However, it’s pretty cool I fixed my phone by myself , and save some extra bucks. I hope it changes with the new iOS 12 update. Pretty content that my new battery works with no issues though.

hello everyone, i am from vietnam. Today I checked the battery with ios 12. Everything is ok! Presents all information as genuine although it is a non-Apple replacement battery. And I continue to use it to replace customers in Vietnam with very cheap price you do not think! About this battery can see more at my web

The thing I want to say is that the battery components will be designed by the manufacturer for the corresponding iOS!

hi

i have got the battery replaced. it was showing 100% but within a week it is like 75%.

i am not sure if this is meant to be going well down.

When i replaced the battery, it was showing 80% peak performance.

Current IOS version is 12.0

What could be the issue? is there a way to resolve it ?

Unless you abused the battery (by leaving it in the hot sun, or similar), it seems like you have a bad battery.

Hi there,

I replace my battery in my iPhone 7 plus and since then it also shows service.

I fould some forum tread where someone mention that the phone was stared accidentally before all cables were connected.

The fix for this seems to be: to remove the battery connector once again and put it back.

I tried that, but with no success.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this service issue ??

The problem is the batteries . I buy from a different company and had the same issues , contacted them via live chat and were told the new batteries would be updated to include the health. received a new batch with a later date and all good. Therefore the issue lies within the battery and some sort of software programming they must have to do to the battery itself.

From where did you bought those new batteries? iFixit or other brand ?

Can you share the info?

Not all third-party batteries are able to show Battery Health. Ask the seller/manufacturer if the batteries are able to. If you have a battery that should be able to show Battery Health percentage but still shows “Service”, try:

  1. Update to newest iOS
  2. Reset iPhone

This worked for me when I had this issue

I have the same issue. Tried another screen on my SE, switched it all back and after that my battery appeared to be done for. Bought a new iFixit SE Battery, replaced it. Everything’s working fine under iOS 13, EXCEPT:

-Constant reboots after exactly 3 1/2 minutes, no matter whether in use or not.

-Battery health is displayed as "battery service", so pretty much like for everybody else.

So far I have no fix and I really hesitate to buy another battery if it’s just a software issue...

I too have an issue with iFixit batteries.

I tested another screen on my SE and put it all back together. Immediately after turning it back on the battery (iFixit - about a year old) was only showing 27% - it was about 70% before. I wasn’t suspecting anything until my phone kept crashing every 3 minutes! You can set an alarm after it, it’s on the second! Battery health under iOS 12 kept showing service and no info regarding actual health. No charging, nothing. It’s so frustrating. Tried DFU reset and everything…. all to no avail. A new battery didn’t fix it for me neither. Same issues persist which makes me think the battery wasn’t the issue…. I’m all out of ideas. Running an iPhone SE A1723 . Can anybody help?

Sorry. My iphone 6s+ do not able to determine battery capacity..do not shows battery health at all. On battery thealth there is (-). What can i do?

I replaced my iphone 7 + Battery twice, both from ebay: the 1st one was a different part no. and no battery health info like yours, second battery it was the same part no. and battery health was showing in %.

My advice: try to find a battery for your iphone with the same part no. like the one inside, I know it is stupid to open it twice .. but it worked for me

A damage in the U2 charging chip of the motherboard is what’s causing the constant rebooting. My Iphone 6 plus kept rebooting every 2 minutes and 35 seconds on the dot. Replacing the U2 chip by soldering a new one will fix the problem.
