(the lvd was loose when i first took back cover off, so I reattached it, knew it was very odd that it was off so I was thinking it was the t-con board but still not explaining why no backlight , can a faulty cable mess up not having a backlight on the TV?)I have the exact same TV set that you have my problem is the same as yours but I had a green screen on one side perfect picture on the other side then i panic and shut the TV down now no picture but does have sound,

( I disconnected the lvd strips on their t-con board and then put them back on to see if that was the problem) very clueless on what to do, my first time even trying to repair a TV like this. I thank you so much for your Fast Response, sorry I didn't answer sooner, I was combing the web looking for Solutions,it's been over a week now my TV's been out. I don't want to go and buy piece after piece just to go and figure out what it could be, I just need to know what it is so I can figure out a solution then buy the board if need be, could it be the lvd cable? I really hope it's not the LED strips because that is going to be a lot of work :-(

Any help would be more than appreciated thanks in advanced.

Here are other pictures of the boards and wiring

Update (06/07/2018)

Hey oldturkey, read your post but didn't have a mutimeter to test what you asked me to, but got one now, really have no idea what to do and what to test but I did notice the lvds cable ribbon connecting to main board is missing some pins could that be causing my main problem with no backlight? But you did say the lvds ribbon cable wouldn't be the cause for the back light not coming on... but the lvds cable was loose when I first opened up the back cover of the tv, can't see anything in this tcon board nor find FP1, blind as a bat in my old age, the printing is so %#*@ small, would you happen to have a picture showing exactly where I should be looking for it and what I should be testing? Or any place I could go and check the schematics for vizio p502ui-b1e please? I really was hoping you would tell me it is the lvds ribbon cable, I have no idea why my TV just out of the blue messed up 5 months out of warranty.. I have a Geek Squad TV from Best Buy a dynex and still going good after 15 years, I take very good care of all my electronics vizio is just $@$*, but when it's working it does have a very beautiful picture.

Thanks again in advance.

Well, awaiting on my order I purchase with a Head Mount Magnifier with light arriving today to make out all the letters and numbers on the tcon/main board, what would be a positive read out that I'm looking for at FP1? Do take into consideration this is my first time messing around with any Electronics like an LCD TV, I'm more proficient with pretty much any form of software engineering, oh and building computers being I have built two within my life Time, thanks for any assistance from anybody out there who could help me with my dilemma.

Thanks in advance

@truesaint "a green screen on one side perfect picture on the other side" could be a panel error. You do want to check the T-con board and the wiring going from there to the panel. Post some pictures of your boards with your question so we can see what you see. You will also have to try to see/access the ribbon cables that connect to the top of the LCD screen. Again, post some pictures by using this guide 기존 질문에 이미지 추가하기

The LVDS cable does not carry the backlight. That would come from your LED board. The backlight will (should) always come on. Can you see your panel light up through some of the holes in the metal in the back of the panel. Check in a darkened room. If not then your issue may just be with the LCD board. Only hesitancy I have is with your ""a green screen on one side perfect picture on the other side" that reeks off panel failure which I would really hate to see happening to your TV.

On the T-con board where you have the connector CNV1 just to the upper left of it should be a component labeled " FP1". Check that for continuity with a multimeter. Then with your set on check it for power. Set your multimeter to 50VDC and place red probe on either end of that component and black probe to any ground. What voltage does it read?

@truesaint since you did find that “did notice the lvds cable ribbon….is missing some pins” you do want to repair that first. Check the connector and make sure that it is okay. Let us know what you find. Vizio is a different beast altogether. Not to many schematics out for their TV’s ….

BTW if you use the @oldturkey03 I get notification that you posted something.
