Got it for my mom. Tried different cables, different computers, restarting, etc... Doesn't show up in iTunes or device manager. So, my question is, is it junk or does one of you wonderful people have a trick up your sleeve?

Sysiphus -
I have three of these devices, and occasionally one of them gets "lost" and won't be recognized by Itunes. I find that when I Reset the device, it will be recognized by Itunes. Reset instructions at this link:
