I threw my phone at the cupboard is it broke from the inside

After throwing my iPhone 5 at the cupboard the LCD screen popped up slightly, my Uncle said it’s broken from the inside though I’m not sure because I never got it checked. Would the parts that are on the top of the phone be broken from the impact
