Hello everyone, I recently read online that some user who updated to iOS 12 Beta finally got his Light Sensor working again, which previously stopped working after a thirdparty LCD replacement.
Can anyone confirm me this? If this is true, this is a huge step forward to the right to repair movement!

I’m seeing numerous reports that iOS 12 beta 2 restores auto brightness function for affected phones, with True Tone still being disabled. One or two further reports state that a DFU restore to iOS 11.4 enables True Tone. I haven’t had a chance to test any of this yet. It does seem like Apple is working on the problem, although it remains to be seen whether any potential fix makes it into the final release. Stay tuned!

ios 12 beta 3 fix the ALS but the true tone option disappears , i changed the third party screen, i use now a genuine screen removed from an iphone 8 plus icloud locked, even with a genuine screen the ALS doesnt work, i upgraded again to ios 12 beta 4 but there´s no True tone option. looks like this is bug and Apple is working on it.

I’ve tried to replace the screen of my iPhone 5 IOS 10.3.4, but noticing the screen auto brightness stopped working requested the old screen back. The old screen still doesn’t have this feature, although it shows as enabled in “settings” and I tested the sensor with a light meter app. the sensor works, but what can I do to reconnect it to the original screen???
