Laptop not powering on

I connect the laptop to the charger alittle orange light on the bottom side under the mouse that has a battery logo turns on for a few seconds then turns off. Doesnt seem to be charging the laptop. I went to best buy geek squad i told them my problem and they said laptops over 4yrs cant be fixed because of unavailable part , but it might be a motherboard issue. Even if it is a motherboard issue can i fix it how much or atleast can i transfer the stuff to another laptop

Unfortunately that sounds like it could be a charging issue on the motherboard side. Try to remove the battery, plug the laptop into the mains via the charger and try to power it on. If that works then you only have a battery issue and just need a replacement. If it doesn't work however, you have a mother board issue. You can get replacements online for around £39+ ($51.09) on Ebay or purchase a refurbished one. You can use the replacement guides on here for help.

As for data transfer. Remove the current hard drive from the faulty motherboard and put it back into the new motherboard (all assembled) and you'll have all your data there as if it was untouched. Good luck.
