How do I get my DSlite to charge or how do I see if it is charging

Your DS could not be charging for a number of reasons. You need to check if the power cable still works (by measuring the contacts using a multimeter, for example): Compare the value the multimeter shows to what is written on the power brick of the DS. Then I suggest measuring the battery voltage. Should be greater than or equal to 3.7V (I think, it's written somewhere on the battery itself). That's just to diagnose the problem. If one of those do not check out, just replace.

If everything checks out, the problem coud be with the fuses on the motherboard, and that's where things get a little complicated...
