Which solid state hard drive to replcace

MacBook Pro 17” unibody 2011 needs new hard drive. Which solid state drive should I choose?

Update (07/30/2018)

Thanks! A follow up question: the Apple online info says that my early 2011 17” 2.2 ghz MacBook Pro has a max memory capacity of 8 gb total. Ifixit sells a memory max-out kit of 2 8 gb RAM chips for a total of 16 gb RAM for my machine. Which is correct?

I personally like the Samsung EVO drives, but any 2.5” SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) drive will work.

Here’s the IFIXIT guide you’ll need to follow: MacBook Pro 17" Unibody Hard Drive Replacement. IFIXIT does offer a kit with the needed drive and tools if you don’t have the tools.

Update (07/27/2018)

Here's the full details of your system: MacBook Pro 17" 2.2 GHz i7 (Early 2011)

What is confusing is Apple didn't go back and retest the system with the newer memory modules that came out just about 9 months later so thats why it lists 8 GB as the limit. My own 17" system has 16 GB without any problems!

Thanks Dan, that’s what I was hoping. I ordered the 16 GB upgrade.
