Back light is on but screen won't show and image?

Okay so every-once in awhile I let my phone die and then charge it fully. I did this today, plugged it in and went about my yard chores. Fast forward, its charges, I go to turn it on and see the LG symbol like all is fine, but then it slowly faded away. No I get a 2 second glimpse at the screen before it fades and the back-light flashes at me. (I think it is mocking me).

The light for notifications is going fine. In order to see the screen I hooked it up to my tv (via HDMI cable), and the screen is full responsive. The power button works to turn it on, doesn’t seem when I go to turn it off.

I tried the battery take-out method, safe mode and have no factory reset it. However, I have no success as of yet.

Additional;

I bought this phone refurbished last Christmas.

As long as I have had it there has been no water-damage that I know of.

I do not know if someone knocked it on the floor while charging because my child’s response to that question was “I don’t know… It could have.”
