It’s actually a Garmin nuvi 2995 but that isn’t listed.
It will only turn on when plugged into the car, my PC or a USB charger, then it works OK.
I’ve left it plugged into a USB charger for over an hour, but it still won’t turn on unless it’s plugged in.
Can anyone suggest a fix ?

Your battery unfortunately has probably gone bad google the model number and see if its repairable lucky in 2018 theres a video for everything. I don’t know if Ifixit will have parts for it try ebay if not look for good vendor.

My mistake, I thought charging it for an hour would be enough, it wasn't.
Charged it overnight, all ok now. Found out where to buy replacement batteries though.

are you sure that is the correct model number? I can't find anything about a 2995 model

I made 2 mistakes, it's a 2559 and, I thought charging it for an hour would be enough, it wasn't.
Charged it overnight, all ok now. Found out where to buy replacement batteries though.

I have the same issue with a brand new Garmin ETREX 22x.
