Black display after bumping corner, is it the display cable?
Hey everyone.
A few months ago i spilled a bit of coffee milk on the bottom left corner of the keyboard (hahaaa) then immediately dunked it in rice (haaaaaaaaa) Terrible decision, i know.
Took it into a local shop for repairs shortly after. After all that, the repair guy said everything was good aside from some coffee-stained keys. However, soon as i got home the display wouldn’t turn on. Everything else was fine though, powered on, chime worked, etc.
I hooked it up into an external display (after resetting the PRAM etc with no luck) and brought it back in the next day. The internal screen wouldn’t even register as a display option and the flashlight test didn't work. Just black. Guy said everything was fine, even after looking at the display cable. Screen stayed this way for about a week before suddenly working again….not sure what happened.
Then yesterday, after months of doing just fine, i lightly bumped the corner of my macbook while setting it down and the screen shut off again. The same jazz as last time, except this time i obviously bumped it.
Nowadays I keep a small ifixit toolkit around so i was able to bust the machine open and look at the display cable myself. The cable itself looked a little beat, but I can’t be sure. Once i have access to a camera I will definitely update with pictures..
Does this sound like a display cable / LDVS issue? I had the prior damage assessed/cleaned so I’d like to rule liquid damage out, but I’m al ears.
