Power adapter light goes dim when phone plugged in/no charging or powe

There seems to be a number of people with significant skills with regard to electronics out there so I thank you for your input. I purchased a few aftermarket chargers or counterfeit if you what to call them that (they are characterized as such on the internet).

I replaced the speaker in one of my iPhones. These are iPhone 4S's. The initial charge on the most recent iPhone 4S that I acquired seemed fine.

When I put the iPhone 4S back together it wouldn't charge. I had taken my other iPhone iPod for other reasons and put it together back together and it wouldn't charge. So I'm thinking I did something incomplete. Then I start doing a search on the internet about problems with certain chargers and I come across the following article:https://medium.com/@cvneutron/stop-buyin...

Bottom-line what am I to do now? I think I managed to zap both phones.

I'd agree don't buy cheap charger... have had many power IC on iPads die because of them.

You need to reopen the iPhone and check all of your connections again. Check the battery is seated and cable not torn etc. Check that when the power is connected that there is voltage coming to the motherboard. If there is then you need to check that computer recognises phone..in which case this is a display problem. I didn't remove all the cables when I did iPhone repair so if you do the same you may be able to eliminate some of the cables as the source of the problem.

The reason for the lag in the response time is I had to buy new leads for my multimeter. So assuming I can get power to this thing which is a mighty big assumption, are there certain voltages I should be looking for? Is what I described a situation where I might have blown out the Tristar chip which would effectively not allow me to be able to have any kind of power going through it? I seriously doubt I'm going to be able to swap out the Tristar chip or can I?

I don't think the iPhone 4s has a Tristar chip. Only the devices that use a lightning connector do.

I'm going to guess something got shorted if battery was left plugged or knocked off the board during the repair.

Personally I would move on to another phone.
