“Can not activate Touch ID on this device” Error! Need help please.
I’m new to this forum, but it seems like the best place for help. I have been repairing iPhones for a few years now, and other than the occasional bad screen, I haven’t had any major issues, until now. I have replaced dozens of iPhone 7 Plus screens without a glitch, but the last 2 phones I have repaired, the home button will not function after the screen swap. I have went back through and checked connections and looked for any damage and all was good. Tried a different screen with the same results. The button works on the original screen, but not the replacement. I’m at a loss, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

when I have had trouble in the past with new screens not being accepted or faulty in someway ( when they are new) I have had to "hot wire" them...ie attach them with the device on, which goes against the grain of all we tell you on here. "Turn the device off, ground yourself". I can't quite tell you how it works but some LCD's etc haven't been recognised after the repair unless I do it with the device switched on. See what the other experts say, and then as a last resort this may be the answer.

I would try a few things like holding the power button while the battery is unplugged and screen plugged in.
Trying a power + volume down reset and see if that helps while the phone is on. Then last resort restoring the iPhone, I'm not sure if this is safe to do with a broken home button.
