If I swap logic board/ssd to 2012 can I upgrade to 10.14.2?

2 part question.

1st part: I need to swap my logic board and ssd on my 2011 11” Air. If I swap to a 2012 logic board (I know this can be done) and a larger ssd, will I be able to upgrade to 10.14.2. The requirements for 10.14.2 exclude the 2011 models. If I can get the latest upgrade the swap to 2012 would be worth the extra dough.

2nd part: In either case is there a benefit to replacing ssd/logic board sequentially or is simultaneous replacement ideal? I assume I can use my old ssd to recover the OS onto the new ssd with a USB HDD adapter.

Thank you in advance.

I’ve not performed a Mojave install on a 2012 MBA myself as I’ve not had one around since its release but according to Apple the Air released in 2012 is suitable for the upgrade: https://support.apple.com/kb/SP777?local...

I’m a bit puzzled here as I understood the threshold for the Mojave upgrade was the presence onboard of a Intel HD 5000 graphic card, thus I can’t really figure out why the 2012 Macbook Air would be Mojave ready but not the 13” late 2011 13” Macbook Pro with the Intel i5 2,4Ghz processor, which runs on a better hardware and the same graphic card. Maybe someone can shed some light on the question.

Regarding the SSD side, be aware that 2011 and 2012 models use an entirely different model, being the 2011 a 6+12 pins whereas the 2012 is a 7+17 pins. The drive size doesn’t really matter with Mojave upgrade, it’s just up to your needs, but you’ll have to replace the SSD too irrespectively.
