Bluetooth does not appear in System Extension

System Information reports “No information found” for Bluetooth.

I have replaced the bluetooth board. I have replaced the cable from the board (+ camera, + sensor) to the motherboard. I have confirmed the camera still works. I have carefully replaced the aluminium foil over the exposed cable shielding.

I am presently starting up the machine with no display and using an external display (just in case this information of of use).

The logic board has been out of this machine.

Any advice on what else I should be looking at to determine the cause of this bluetooth fault?

Update (01/12/2019)

This is a tale of two second hand iMac's. The first one came without an LCD display, had been spray painted green with a hole drilled in its base. It needed RAM, new display, glass, HDD, some screws etc. [I had noticed later that the microphone cable had been cut] Clean OS install and done. Needless to say the Green spray tan was somewhat ugly and I kept an eye out for another iMac (exactly the same). I picked up one without a logic board or screen... I then transferred the contents from the Green iMac to the shiny silver one... First boot and everything is great!... Camera works, microphone works... WiFi works... it wasn't until sometime later I checked bluetooth... it wasn't working ... I have since replaced the bluetooth board with the one from the Green iMac, and also a new one from China. I've also replaced the multi part cable connecting the bluetooth board and camera etc... and put in new silver tape. (why is the cable exposed in two parts anyway? - separate question]. Hope all that makes sense...

Finally... I'm currently starting the machine up without the LCD panel in. I'm running off an external monitor. Yep the fans go crazy because of the LCD temp sensor fault (it's not connected). I wouldn't have thought that would make a difference for bluetooth.

What is the OS version you are using? Have you tried re-installing it?

OS = High Sierra.

I erased the disk and performed a complete reinstall yesterday.

No Information when I click on Bluetooth in the System Information report.

Then you are back to square one ;-{

Can you give us some history on what happened.

Lets try this: Replace the Bluetooth antenna 922-9904 as I have a feeling its bad as there is no foil tape on it

I thought of replacing the antenna too. I have done this - it did not resolve the issue.

Additionally... even if the antenna was faulty that would only impact the ability of devices to connect. System Information should still see the hardware and report it as available.

re the foil tape I referred to... this is on the cable that runs from the bluetooth card to the mother board (and I've replaced that cable and the foil - I'd still like to know what the foil is for).

I was figuring the foil had shorted out the antenna lead which would have burnt the board (overloading it). The way your stated things it sounded like thats where the foil tape was. I would use regular poly tape for the connections.

Then the cable connection to the logic board needs to be traced out and you may still need another replacement board.

Sorry, missed your reply.

I have the cable connection to the logic board on order. I have replaced it with a spare I had (unsuccessfully). So I'm continuing to wait on the new cable.

That cable is a is a 3 part cable. It connects to Camera, Bluetooth and a temperature sensor all via one connection on the logic board. The cable to the bluetooth connector and cable to the camera have a section of their black outer covering exposed and covered with foil holding them to the back case. I'm very curious as to why.

Anyway... waiting on the cable to ship/arrive. it might be some time.

So... new cable has arrived and I've completed the replacement. There is no difference - no hardware detected... :-(

Time to review the schematics and board view to trace out the logic board path to the USB hub that then connected to the PCH chip.
