Working iPod with blank white screen

I just picked up a new Ipod from a garage sale, It works, but sometimes the screen turns white and you can’t see anything except for faded patches of what the screen should look like. This usually happens after the Ipod goes into sleep mode and the screen turns off, especially after staying in a pocket for a while. The screen only works properly if i leave the ipod untouched for a while and it will revert back to the original state after going into sleep mode.

It does make noise when locking unlocking and charging, is there a way I can determine if the connections are bad, or if i need a new display altogether?
