Loses connectivity until restart

I have an iphone se that ive had for couple years thru virgin mobile. Never had a problem. It works good. Recently ive been having to restart at least once a day to make/receive calls and also for the text messages. Like this morning i figured it was acting up cause havent heard from my wife telling me to have a good day, i restarted and got bombarded with around 35 texts from her and other friends. Ive tried soft and hard restart and nothing seems to work. It works fine after the restart. I am an avid diyer so i love working on stuff. Can someone please help me figure out what is wrong with it. Is it a software problem or hardware problem and what should i do about it. I dont really want to get a new phone at this point.
